Special Topics

In addition to regular articles, SPB publishes articles on Special Topics. These articles are published as separate Special Issues or (since 2022) as separate Special Thematic Sections within the journal volumes.

SPB publishes up to one Special Topic per year. Special Topics focus on timely questions in social psychology, explore cutting-edge research, and provoke meaningful discussions within our community. All submitted Special Topic proposals undergo a review process by the editors-in-chief. The criteria for selection include the relevance to the aims and scope of the journal, novelty, and the potential of the proposed Special Topic to attract high-quality contributions and facilitate important discussion in the field.

The editors-in-chief oversee the editorial process and offer guidance and help to the guest editors both when it comes to the editorial decisions and technical issues. The editors-in-chief decide on the themes of the Special Topics and monitor all the articles submitted as part of Special Topics, yet the ultimate decisions regarding which articles are accepted and form part of a Special Topic is made by the guest editors.
