Call for Registered Reports: Funding Opportunity for Rigorous Social Psychology Research
Funding Opportunity for Rigorous Social Psychology Research
Social Psychological Bulletin is pleased to announce a rolling call for funding studies conducted within Registered Reports processed through PCI Registered Reports.
Funding Available
We are offering up to £1,000 per accepted Registered Report to support data collection costs. This funding is available on a rolling basis while funds remain available.
What Are Registered Reports?
Registered Reports are a publication format where studies are peer-reviewed and provisionally accepted before data collection begins. This ensures rigorous methodology and eliminates publication bias, as acceptance is based on research quality rather than results.
Eligibility & Process
Scope: We welcome Registered Reports on any topic within social psychology, including but not limited to:
- Social cognition and perception
- Intergroup relations and prejudice
- Attitudes and persuasion
- Social influence and conformity
- Prosocial behavior and morality
- Self and identity
- Close relationships
- Culture and social psychology
- Applied social psychology
Submission Process:
- In your cover letter, mention you are applying for the £1,000 research funding from SPB
- Submit your Stage 1 Registered Report to PCI Registered Reports (https://rr.peercommunityin.org/)
- If your Stage 1 manuscript receives in-principle acceptance (IPA) from PCI RR and meets all journal-specific requirements (see here), then Social Psychological Bulletin will be listed in the Stage 1 recommendation as an eligible outlet journal.
- Forward to SPB the confirmation of your PCI-RR Stage 1 acceptance to editors@spb.psychopen.eu
- Upon IPA, you will receive up to £1,000 to support your study's data collection
- After completing your study according to the approved protocol, submit your Stage 2 manuscript to PCI Registered Reports
- Following successful Stage 2 review, submit your recommended Stage 2 preprint to Social Psychological Bulletin and it will be accepted without further review.
- Please note, that the funding is available only for those that choose to publish their article in Social Psychological Bulletin, following successful Stage 2 review. Accepting the grant is considered to reflect a commitment by the authors to publish their completed Stage 2 RR in SPB. The authors are expected to return the grant funds if they decide to publish elsewhere.

- Studies must fall within the scope of social psychology
- Adherence to Open Science practices (open data, open materials)
- Ethical approval for research involving human participants
- Compliance with PCI RR and Social Psychological Bulletin guidelines
- Providing and invoice for the data collection costs (e.g., from an online panel or another source)
